Moshup of Island Alpaca

Moshup* of Island alpaca is a quintessential alpaca with a bloodline that is proven strong and confident.

His sire, Pietro, is considered a trademark male with cria soon to enter the showring. Pietro, a medium fawn with grey and browns in his lineage, throws all colors, from beautiful black and browns, to the buttery soft beige of Moshup. Moshup has heavy bone, dense, fine, excellent fine crimp with excessive coverage.

We are pleased to say that Moshup has qualities that would make his sire proud. Moshup boasts 18.6 micron, like his sire of 21 micron at nearly 3 years of age.

His Dam has high quality traits that she too has passed down from her sire the wonderful Peruvian Millar and her grandsire Caligula.

Moshup will be sold at a pre-show price of $5,000, with 3 retained breedings.

The name Moshup comes from the legendary character of respect and charity from the Wampanoags, a Native American tribe on the island of Martha's Vineyard. You can learn more about the derivation, by going to the Wamanoag Tribes site.

Carlie, a Caligula-line, dark female from a grey dam, bred to one of our finest herd sires, Calvin, for a May cria. With Calvin's background, and Carlie's dam, a rose-grey, we may produce a top-quality offspring. Whatever the outcome, we expect superior fleece with solid bloodlines this coming summer 2009.

Part of our original herd, we are only considering her for sale now, as we have been blessed with three wonderful offspring, one female, three males; Island Alpaca Luna and Island Alpaca Noepe, and Samuel Bellamy, and this years cria, Moshup, yet to hit the show-ring.

Island Alpaca Pietro

Pietro is a super fine alpaca. (he was 18.5 Micron at 1-1/2 years old, and just at 21.5 at nearly 3 years of age.) With incredible luster, and very high frequency crimp Pietro is abundantly covered with this fine fiber from his top-knot to his toes. (You can also find one Histogram under the certificate)

Visitors to the farm are always amazed at how soft his fleece is, even at his older age!

He is SOLID Fawn color, with a grey face,and masculine head, true to huacaya-type with incredible coverage, topping a conformationally correct frame that is well balanced.

Pietro's first cria have arrived in 2008. He has thrown color; from Bay Black, to Beighe, and colors inbetween! His first ofspring was a healthy bay-black female, named Aquinnah out of Bay Black, Skyeview's Molly. And another super-fine, fawn male, named Moshup, out of our brown alpaca, named Carlie Rose, and finally, a dark brown male, named Trevi out of a True Black, named Twilight.
