Waste Prevention: Alpacas will not longer be able to put their heads in your feeder, or to take out chunks, and drop hay on the ground, preventing waste and the opportunity for the alpaca to eat from the ground, keeping your alpaca healthier. If you have a batch of hay with burrs, you will avoid having these burrs in their top-knots.

Hay is kept under pressure with the weight of the grid bars, which will follow the level of hay as it goes down, as the alpacas eat. This design bests simulates the pulling/grazing action (with the hay under continual pressure.) of the alpaca pulling on grass in the pasture, helping to keep the alpacas teeth in a natural way.

With the use of the grid, in your tub, being low to the ground, the hay feeder sits closer to the alpacas natural positioning as if they were grazing on the pasture.

Spacing of bars is optimal so that the hay can be easily eaten.
