Afteil (Archangel's Afteil)

Aptly named after the "Angel of Twilight" Archangel's Afteil is one of the most stunning animals in the herd.

We would like to say that we think it doesn't get any better than this in color but we have not seen every colored alpaca in the US. But we reckon the phenotype, the pedigree, the fiber, it all stacks up here as being elite.

Speaking of lineage, Archangel's Afteil, as of October 2008, is one of the darkest offspring (only 5 medium fawn alpaca of 72) by her multi award-winning sire, CCNF Archangel (offspring of, Accoyo Legends, Snowmass Legacy Gold, PPERuvian Mr. President, and Augusto.) Only 25% of his registered alpacas have color.)

Aftiel has fabulous solid color! Her fleece is fine and dense exhibiting high luster, and staple.

Her dam, Nova's Twilight, is a fabulous black with terrific presence and valuable heritage: Snowmass Nova and Snowmass Peruvian Casanova.

Disregarding all of these wonderful traits, and genetics, there is something worth mentioning about her personality... she carries with her, most of the day, a piece of hay, or a stick in her mouth just for fun and often times she comes close enough and offers kisses to her human friends... I have not yet met an alpaca with such endearing traits!

Archangel is now producing blue ribbon and Championship winning offspring! He sired the 2008 MAPACA White Female Champion and in a competitive Get Of Sire class at the 2008 North American his "Get" won 1st place!

In front of some of the most respected judges in our industry today (Mike Safley Jude Anderson Amanda VandenBosch Dr Julio Sumar and Kristin Buhrman), Archangel won five Color Championships and three Reserve Color Championships. He also won four 1st places in Bred and Owned classes and anchored three Get Of Sires for Snowmass Legacy Gold in 2004. 

Mike Safley went as far as saying that "You can go to Australia, New Zealand, even Peru and you will not find a nicer alpaca than the one standing before me!" At MAPACA he said "If there were a Best in Show award for alpacas, this one would be my choice."

Archangel is the most decorated offspring of Snowmass Legacy Gold who sold for $500,000 at the Making of Champions Private Selection Sale in 2006. His half brother, Snowmass Invincible sold for a world record price of $580,000 in 2005. These are the two highest selling males in alpaca auction history. His Grand sire, 4P Legacy also sold for $750,000 for 1/2 interest which is the highest selling private treaty sale.

Archangel is no longer available for outside stud services. At the 2008 Futurity, a single breeding was donated to the Quechua Benefit which sold for $9,500!
